There are many
princesses in the Disney movies. There are Snow white, Belle, Mulan and other
princesses. Among the princesses we discussed in class, Merida is the most
positive model for girls growing up today. There are three reasons : she is
more free, active, has her own way to solve the problem.
First,
she is free. In most of the Disney movies and also the girls in real life, they
are stuck in the pattern of parents and rule. She likes to ignore the boring
rules and have a free time. For example, in the movie, she shoots the arrow even
though her mother said to not do anything. That is little bit rude, but that is
the thing that growing girls actually need. They shouldn’t disobey their
parents, but they have to think more think freely.
Second, she is active. The girls do not move a
lot because they have to go to academies. This makes a lazy life and also
causes damage in our health. On the other hand, Merida is very active. For
example, she likes archery, riding horses, and other sports. This part is very important
to growing girls because it’ll make healthier life for them.
Third, she has her own way to solve the
problem. Most of girls follow what her mother or father says. That stops the
development of thinking ability and also to solve the actual problem in their
lives. Merida tries to change her fate by her own way and she successes in the
movie. This is also a good thing that girls have to learn.
As a conclusion, Merida is the most positive
role mother for growing girls for these three reasons. She is free, active, and
has her own way to solve the problem. I again strongly emphasize that Merida is
